Delhi CM rejects Sreedharan's resignation

New Delhi, Jul 13: Sheila Dikhit, chief minister rejected the resignation of DMRC chief E Sreedharan who quit the post following the metro bridge mishap in Delhi on Sunday, Jul 12.

Sheila Dikshit said, "We have decided not to accept the resignation of E Sreedharan."

According to sources, the Centre rejected Metro chief's resignation as it viewed that his continuation was necessary for successful completion of projects related to Delhi Metro ahead of the Commonwealth Games next year.

Chief Minister took the decision not to accept Sreedharan's resignation after realising that it (resignation) will "severely hamper various projects" related to Metro ahead of next year's Commonwealth Games, sources said.

"At this time, we cannot let him go. That is why it was decided not to accept his resignation. He is a person of integrity," a top Delhi government official said.

New Delhi: Bluelines to keep off road this weekend

New Delhi, July 20: Launching a crackdown on the 'killer' blueline buses, Delhi Chief Minister Sheila Dikshit today said the buses will be kept off the roads this Saturday and Sunday so that the operators and drivers could rectify their shortcomings and imbibe a sense of discipline. ''The buses would only be allowed to ply on roads after a thorough inspection by the Transport Authority,'' said Ms Dikshit, emerging out of a high level meeting.....
