Srinagar, Jul 11: Looks like the protests and the violence that was triggered off by the Shopian Double murder incident paid off. According to the recent findings of the Muzaffar Jan Commission, four Jammu Kashmir policemen have been found guilty.
The State government the revealed the findings has accepted the recommendations of the special commission that was set up solely to probe into the Shopian case. IT has also promised to extended co-operation to the commission in further investigations.
The four policemen who are currently under suspension will be facing action, the state government said. A new FIR will be filed against the superintendent of police for lying under oath before the commission.
The commission has not completed the investigations yet. Th commission said that the extensive investigation is will take some more time. It has also asked for a team of investigators equpped with modern facilities to pinpoint the real culprits.
When the bodies of two women were found, the Chief Minister, Omar Abdullah had dismissed allegations against security officials saying that the women had drowned. But after the protests that was launched in the state, the government set up probe commissions. According to an investigative report, the women were raped and murdered and a judicial probe found that police had ignored the case and recommended that should be suspended.
