Clarke kicking himself for failing to score first century in England

Melbourne, July 11 (ANI): Australia's vice-captain Michael Clarke, who was out for 83 while hooking Stuart Broad's delivery just before stop of play due to light rain and bad light, was regretting a lost opportunity to score a century against England.

"I am disappointed with the shot I played more than anything. Coming out under lights, we have played enough cricket to know when there is a bit of rain around, the ball generally skids off the pitch," he said.

"I had a look at the replay and the ball was bowled across the seam. I probably should have ducked it or let it go. A century would have been special," The Courier Mail quoted Clarke, as saying.

Two days remain in the Test and a draw looks the most likely result given there is further rain forecast for day four.

Australia at 5-479 in response to England's first innings total of 435 is however confident of forcing a result on a pitch, which should deteriorate.

"If the rain stays away I certainly believe we can get a result. That wicket on day five is going to continue to spin. The wicket will start to play a few more tricks, I think there is an opportunity for a result," Clarke said. (ANI)

'Clarke has lot of maturing to do before taking Ponting's mantle'

Sydney, Feb 7 (ANI): Former Australian coach John Buchanan has said that Ricky Ponting's heir apparent, Michael Clarke, has a lot of maturing to do at a time when the team needs strong leaders, after he clashed with Simon Katich in dressing room over a team ritual. There is much about Clarke's conduct on and off the field that has impressed John Buchanan, but he suspects that the 27-year-old vice-captain is still learning to appreciate the team values promoted by champions.....
