Chandigarh: Couple found dead in car

Chandigarh, Jul 11: Dead Bodies of a girl and a boy were found in a car at Sector 19 of the city on Saturday, Jul 11. The deceased who have been identified to be 20-year-old Gaurav Rana and 19-year-old Alisha, were found by Gaurav"s friend Aman Khatri in the car.

Aman who broke open the window to get his unconscious friend to the hospital was told that his friends were dead. The police who were informed at around 9:30 pm only managed to arrive at the scene at 11 pm. The friends had moved the car from its original location, the police said.

The police said, a bottle of liquor, a packet of cigarette, condoms and some food items were also found in the car.

One of the possible reasons for the death is suspected to be gas leakage from the AC. Aman said he did smell something when he was getting the bodies out of the car.

"We suspect leakage of gas from the AC (air-conditioner) caused their death. There could be a possibility of suicide but we cannot reach any conclusion as we are waiting for the post mortem report. Our investigation is on and we will also talk to friends and relatives of the couple," a police official was quoted as saying in a news agency report.

MDU, US varsity to set up joint research centre

Chandigarh, July 26: A delegation from the US-based George Washington University visited Maharshi Dayanand University (MDU), Rohtak, to explore possibilities of setting up a joint research centre in frontier areas of Bio-informatics and Systems Biology and work out possibilities of joint studies and research. MDU Vice-Chancellor R S Dhankar welcomed the foreign delegation and presented mementoes to the members of the delegation. Prof Dhankar said the ground work for collaborative research was done.....
