Manmohan Singh meets US prez on G8 sidelines

L'Aquila, Jul 10: Prime Minister, Manmohan Singh on Thursday, Jul 9 met US president Barack Obama on the sidelines of the G8 and G5 summit.

Indian officials said, "Both leaders shook hands and exchanged pleasantries, No bilateral talks were held." They also said that there was no formal meeting scheduled between Obama and Manmohan Singh here though top foreign ministry officials had maintained that they would be 'in the same room at the same time'.

Manmohan Singh met British Prime Minister Gordon Brown Wednesday, Jul 8 and was scheduled to meet German Chancellor Angela Merkel, Italian Prime Minister Silvio Berlusconi and Angolan President Jose Eduardo Dos Santos.
