New Delhi, July 8 (ANI): Vice President Hamid Ansari on Wednesday condoled the demise of former Shahi Imam of Jama Masjid Maulana Syed Abdullah Bukhari.
He was ailing for the several months and passed away on Wednesday morning.
In his condolence message, Ansari said that Bukhari had an impressive record of religious service to the people and he would remain a lasting exemplar of selfless service.
"I am deeply grieved to learn about the sad demise of Maulana Syed Abdullah Bukhari, the former Shahi Imam of Jama Masjid, Delhi," Ansari said.
"My wife joins me in sending our heartfelt condolences to the members of the bereaved family and the wide circle of his followers and admirers and pray the Almighty to grant them the strength to withstand this loss," he added.
The 87 year-old, who was appointed Vice Shahi Imam in 1946 is survived by four sons and two daughters. (ANI)
