Tharoor to lead Indian team at Lisbon meet

New Delhi, July 8 (ANI): Minister of State in the Ministry of External Affairs, Shashi Tharoor, will be leading the Indian delegation to the forthcoming Fifth Ministerial Meeting of the Community of Democracies to be held from July 11-12, 2009 in Lisbon.

India is a member of the Community of Democracies (CoD), a unique forum that brings together those nations committed to promoting and strengthening democracy worldwide.

During the meeting, the ministers will discuss key thematic concerns, including poverty, development and promotion of democractic governance. (ANI)

Thiruvananthapuram, Mar 28 (ANI): Former United Nations diplomat and writer Shashi Tharoor on Saturday filed his nomination papers from Thiruvananthapuram Lok Sabha constituency.Tharoor filed the papers before District Collector Sanjay Kaul at the collectorate here.He was accompanied by former MP from the constituency V S Sivakumar, MLA N Sakthan and District Congress President Mohan Kumar.haroor will have to face a tough challenge from Left Democratic Front.....

Chennai, Apr 29 (ANI): Former United Nations diplomat and writer Shashi Tharoor has asked the Rajapaksa Government to give a devolution package to its Tamil civilians to give them an honoured place in the country.Tharoor recalled that the Sri Lanka Government had announced a couple of years ago that it would give a devolution package to the Tamils.
