San Francisco, Jul 8: The war of the giants continue. After the Microsoft launched Bing to compete with the Internet search giant Google; Google now plans to computer operating system to challenge the monopoly of Microsoft's Windows.

In a blog post, the company said that Google Chrome OS will be based on Chrome Web browser, Mountain View and will be designed for low-cost laptops called netbooks initially.

The product will be available for consumers s in the second half of 2010.

"Google Chrome OS is being created for people who spend most of their time on the Web, and is being designed to power computers ranging from small Netbooks to full-size desktop systems," Sundar Pichai, vice president of product management, and Linus Upson, engineering director, said in the blog post.

Google said that the feedback they get from the users is clear. The operating systems that were designed before the emergence of internet are simply not appropriate for the present.

Google informed that Chrome will be open source and pointed out that it is different from the Android software, which was initially designed for mobile phones.
