Lalu launches war against Mamata's Budget

Lalu Prasad Yadav
New Delhi, Jul 4; A day after Mamata Banerjee presented the Railway Budget 2009-10, the former Railways minister Lalu Prasad Yadav has launched a war against her claiming that the new budget ignores Bihar and the new Minister favours her own state-Bengal.

The Indian media stated the obvious from the time the budget was tabled in the Parliament on Friday, Jul 3 that just like Lalu Prasad Yadav concentrated on Bihar, Mamata's budget focuses on Bengal.

However, Lalu Prasad Yadav has reportedly taken his opposition one step ahead. According to media reports Lalu Prasad Yadav is planning to meet Prime Minister to present his case. His main arguments would be that the Budget has not allocated any funds to Bihar and that Patna was not one of the 50 world class stations that Mamata Banerjee has proposed.

In an interview with CNN-IBN, Mamata Banerjee claimed that it was only natural that few states get a bigger share of the budget while some don't. Now, the country has to wait and see what the Prime Minister Manmohan Singh has to say about this allegation against his Cabinet Minister.
