'The Queen' to grace Wimbledon in hope of seeing Murray crowned 'King'

London, July 3 (ANI): Queen Elizabeth is hoping to visit the Wimbledon Centre court for the first time in 32 years to see British tennis star Andy Murray take on Wimbledon champion Roger Federer in the men's final on Sunday, but before that the 22-year-old Scott will have to beats Andy Roddick in today's semi final.

Murray has already received a letter of congratulations from Her Majesty after his recent win at Queen's, and now it has been revealed the Queen is set to grace Wimbledon with her presence, the Daily Express reports.

The last time the Queen was at the All England Club was in 1977 to see Virginia Wade lift the women's title. That was the last time a British player won the singles event.

The Queen's only two other visits to the championships were in 1957 and 1962.

Murray is aiming to become the first British man to take the title since Fred Perry in 1936.

A Buckingham Palace spokeswoman, however, refused to commit on the possibility of a royal visit, saying: "It's pure speculation at this point."

Tickets for the semi-final are being snapped up for a staggering 20,000 pounds, and Murray promised loyal supporters he was going to give it his best shot and put up the fight of his life.

Murray, who looked relaxed as he carried on his usual routine on the Wimbledon practice courts, insisted he was trying to ignore the hype surrounding one of the biggest matches in his career as Murraymania reached fever pitch across Britain. (ANI)
