Microsoft's Bing steals Google's share of searches

Bing, Google, Yahoo
London, Jul 3: The all new search engine from Microsoft Corp, Bing has reportedly beaten the search giant, Google black and blue. In its very first month, Bing stole 8.23 percent of US Web searches.

The older Microsoft Search engine used to account for 7.81 per cent of the searches. And Bing took it from there to peak in the first week of its launch at 9.21 percent to fall for awhile, and later sustain at an average of 8.45 percent as of the last week of June.

The numbers that were revealed by the Internet data firm StatCounter may support Microsoft's ongoing war with Google in the Internet arena.

"At first sight, a 1 percent increase in market share does not appear to be a huge return on the investment Microsoft has made in Bing but the underlying trend appears positive," StatCounter Chief Executive Adohan Cullen said.

Google's account reportedly fell 78.48 percent from 78.72 percent before Bing. And Yahoo Inc, the No. 2 in the market, however, went up to to 11.04 percent from 10.99 percent.
