Govt. to award 6 shipping projects worth Rs 3300 cr.

New Delhi, July 1 (ANI): The Government on Wednesday said it would award six shipping projects worth 3,319.14 crore rupees in next 100 days.

These would be developed on the public-private-partnership (PPP) mode.

Minister for Shipping G K Vasan, unveiling agenda of his Ministry in the national capital, said that these projects were expected to add capacity of 31.23 million tones.

The proposed projects include plans for development of a deep draught iron ore berth and a coal berth of capacity 10 million tones. (ANI)

New Delhi, Nov 30: The net collection of direct taxes during April-October 2007 was Rs 128,864 crore, a 43.15 per cent increase over the corresponding period of the last fiscal, the Lok Sabha was informed today. Coca Cola banned near temples in Bangalore

Bangalore: The State Govt banned the sale of carbonated drinks near 2,000temples with immediate effect. Carbonated drinks are also banned near educatinal institutions, private and Govt hospitals. Sources say that 13 aerated drinks have been banned in shops and establishments within a radius of 100 feet of temples. The Government has filed a case against Coca-Cola under the Prevention of Food Adulteration Act, however, similar cases have been filed against Thums Up and Mirinda. Karnataka is the first state to file a case.....

Japanese govt under fire for rewriting wartime history in school textbooks

London, Jan 9 (ANI): Japanese government is under attack for its apparent attempts to rewrite its wartime past in the new school textbooks.The government had decided two years ago to delete or rewrite references to 1945 Battle of Okinawa in the history books, where the military apparently forced the civilians into mass suicides faced with defeat.According to new reports, education officials have agreed to restore the passages in new books, but it will not contain the word "forced" in.....
