Kerosene, cooking gas prices untouched

New Delhi, Jul 1: Just as the country waited to see how the UPA government's new budget would turn out to be, the Petroleum Minister Murli Deora announced the fuel price hike on Wednesday, Jul 1.

Deora after his meeting Prime Minister Manmohan Singh, revealed that as of 12 am midnight, a litre of petrol would cost Rs 4 more and diesel would get costlier by Rs 2 per litre.

However, for the benefit of the middle class and the poor, the government have left the cooking gas and the kerosene prices untouched.The oil companies on Jun 15 increased Aviation Turbine Fuel (ATF) prices by 6 per cent.

The fuel price hike comes on the back of the high international crude oil prices which escalated on the belief that the demand in United States will revive soon.

RBI to take calibrated measures: Y V Reddy
