Nandan Nilekani wants the 'best' in his UID team

Bangalore, Jun 29: Expressing happiness over finally being able to fulfilling his dream of using technology to help his nation, Nandan Nilekani, ex Infosys co-chairman and the chosen one to head the Unique Identification Database project (UID) said that he will make sure that he has the 'best people' from the government and outside forming his team.

"I am happy that the Prime Minister has reposed trust in me," he was quoted as saying in a news agency report.

He said that in his book 'Imagining India' he had devoted a whole chapter on the importance of using technology to transform the nation and added that with this project his dream became a reality.

Speaking on the team and how it would be constituted he said, "It is a national effort. I would look for the best people. It could be from the government, from outside".

It was limited to a similar answer when asked if he would invite his former colleges to form the team.

Infosys Co-Chairman elected as NCAER President

New Delhi, Apr 12: National Council for Applied Economic Research (NCAER), the country's premier economic research institution, has elected Infosys Technologies Ltd Co-Chairman Nandan M Nilekani as its President. Mr Nilekani, who was conferred the Padma Bhushan in 2006, will take over from Bimal Jalan on April 15. Former RBI governor Bimal Jalan had held this position since 1998 when he succeeded Ratan Tata. it is still uncertain as to how this himalyan task can be completed flawlesly as this has been experienced in the case of election identity cards that there have been many mistakes, delays and incomplecencies. how then Nandan sahab get it done flawlesly is only to be seen.
