According to some media reports, Lal Thanhawla had said the "Indians are racist and that he himself was a victim of racism".

The official statement said: "He did not even distantly suggested or hinted that the people of India are racist and that he was victim of racism. It is unfortunate that the Chief Minister's observations have been inaccurately interpreted and inappropriate conclusion drawn therefrom." (ANI)
