Mulayam Singh to bulldoze Beheji Mayawati

Mulayam Singh
Lucknow, Jun 27: After the uproar in the media and among the public over Mayawati unveiling statues and memorials of dalit leaders and herself before the scheduled time in the context of the Supreme court hearing, the Uttar Pradesh opposition too slammed Maywati by saying this move was aimed at pre-empting the Supreme Court from putting these projects on hold.

Samajwadi party leader, Mulayam Singh on Friday, Jun 26 said that he would bulldoze the statues if he could.

The Congress has also put down Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister's obsession to establish statues and memorials by describing it as 'waste of public money'. Senior Congress leader Digvijay Singh has reportedly demanded for an inquiry into the issue.

"Money of people is being wasted. It is absolute misuse of public money and public trust. People will not forgive her. She has seen the result in Lok Sabha elections earlier. BSP will be finished in 2012 assembly elections," Singh said.

Noting that the 'hurried manner in which these inaugurations were done' was due to the PIL, which is to come up before the Supreme Court on Jul 3, Digvijay Singh alleged corruption. He said that a probe has to be conducted to find out where stones were procured, from which mine, and who owned the mine.
