Los Angeles, Jun 26: King of Pop, left the earthly world after stirring a storm on the internet planet. When the news of Michael Jackson's death was confirmed in the noon on Thursday, Jun 25 the musician's name spiraled on to the top of the most searched for and the most tweeted about list in the span of just two hours.

The Tech Chronicle reports, that the Pop Star's name not only jammed the micro-blogging service, but it quickly became the most searched for item on Google.

Before the Twitter's server crashed due to the overbearing volume of traffic, Tweetvolume noted- 'Michael Jackson appeared in more than 66,500 Twitter updates -not to mention the several misspelled versions of his name'.

When it came to the searched items on the web, Google Trends revealed that seven of the top ten most popular searches for the day involved Jackson in some way. And the web search giant said that in its 'hotness' meter, Michael Jackson was 'volcanic'.

This did not stop with the two reining giants of the internet, Wikipedia too was flooded as editors tried to update the news and polish the facts, along with dealing with millions of contributors who eagerly wanted to take part in documenting the pop legend's death.
