Indian fans resorted to the internet, news websites, blogs and foreign channels. Social Networking sites like Facebook, Orkut and Twitter soon became the destination for sharing and grieving.
According to media reports, the SMS networks in India registered a significant rise in traffic after 4:30 am on Friday, Jun 26.
The Chinese were gripped by the death of the Pop star as it meant the demise icon that exposed the nation to the outside world. With the release Michael Jackson's 'Thriller' in the 1980s, the country was effectively thrown open to the outside market. The album gave Chinese the taste of Western Pop for the very first time.
Sparking off nostalgia, and shock in his Chinese fans Michael Jackson became the hot topic on the internet. Nearly 8,000 comments on Jackson had been posted in Sina.com chat rooms, debating the merits of the iconic star known as much here for his freakish personal life as his talent, Channel News Asia reports.
