Rage over 90 pc SSC quota for Class 11 admissions

Maharastra
Mumbai, Jun 22: The Maharashtra Government announced that 90 per cent of the of junior college or Class 11 seats will be reserved for the students who studied under the SSC board.

"We have decided to implement the 90-10 quota for junior college admission from this year onwards," Maharashtra Education Minister, Radhakrishna Vikhe Patil made the announced.

This move has sparked off rage in the students and another debate on reservations as the students from all the other boards will be left with only a meagre 10 per cent of the seats.

While the SSC students claim that present form admissions was not working for them as their counterparts from the ICSE board ended scoring much higher than them; ICSE students argue that their papers are much tougher than those of the SSC.

With all the conflicting arguments being thrown about, the issue only lies in the hands of the Mumbai High Court which will ultimately decide the future of the students of the state.
