Lalgarh Maoist Violence: Central forces deployed

Central Forces deployed in Lalgarh
New Delhi, Jun 18: As the Maoist-led violence in West Bengal's Lalgarh seems to find no end, Central forces have been deployed in the troubled regions to contain the Maoist violence and to clear them out of the villages.

With almost a civil war like situation in his state, West Bengal's Chief Minister Buddhadeb Bhattacharjee met with the Left Front and decided to launch an operation to flush out the Maoists in an attempt to avoid another Nandigram. At first the Centre expected the state government to contain the situation with the help of state police. However, now Central security forces have been deployed and they have set up their base camps in and around Lalgarh, all set to begin operations against the rebels.

The police will gain support from five companies of CRPF and eight companies of BSF while a cobra force is also on stand by.
