Three test positive for swine flu; total reaches 20

Bangalore/Jalandhar, June 14 (ANI): A 29-year-old woman and her three-year-old child from Bangalore and a teenager from Jalandhar tested positive for H1N1 virus on Sunday, taking the overall swine flu cases in the country to 20.

The mother-child duo had arrived at the Bangaluru airport from New Jersey on 12th June, they were quarantined at Rajiv Gandhi Institute of Chest Diseases in Bangalore after having tested positive for swine flu, Director of Health and Family Welfare Services Usha Vasunkar said.

In the second case in Jalandhar, a student of Guru Amar Dass Public School has tested positive for swine flu and has been admitted to hospital in New Delhi, Civil Surgeon Dr S S Wali said.

"A 30-member group of students had gone to an educational trip to the US and when they came back yesterday, one of the students was found at the Delhi Airport having symptoms of swine flu. He accordingly was put to tests that found him positive," Dr Wali said. (ANI)

IAAF overrule German body, ban Baumann

Sydney: Former Olympic 5,000 metres champion Dieter Baumann of Germany was banned for two years on Monday after failing a drugs test.International Amateur Athletic Federation (IAAF) spokesman Giorgio Reineri said an arbitration panel, which met in Sydney at the weekend, had overturned the German federation's decision to clear Baumann.Baumann, 35, tested positive for the anabolic steroid nandrolone last November but was exonerated by the German federation after claiming his toothpaste had been spiked.The 1992 5,000 metres gold.....
