Proven innocent, S Korea releases Indian sailors

New Delhi: South Korean court on Thursday, Jun 11 released two Indian sailors who were held in 2007 in connection with MV Heibei Spirit oil spill case.

Captain Jasprit Singh Chawla and chief officer Chetan Shyam have been proven innocent in this case. Earlier, they were released on bail in Jan 2009 but kept under house arrest.


Captain Chawla sister, Rosy Khurana said, "We have spoken to him. He said that he will be back in another two-three days. We had a lot of international support and from the Indian government. Our prayers are answered." The two will return to India soon.
