Kalam receives honorary doctorate from Queen's University Belfast

London, June 11 (ANI): Former President A P J was conferred with honorary Doctorate of Laws by Queen's University Belfast, a prominent varsity based in Northern Ireland, for distinction in public service.

Dr. Kalam received the honour from Vice Chancellor of the University Professor Peter Gregson last evening.

In April, Dr. Kalam became the first Asian to be bestowed the Hoover Medal, America's top engineering prize, for his outstanding contribution to public service.

Dr. Kalam has received honorary doctorates from as many as thirty universities, including the Carnegie Mellon University and the Nanyang Technological University of Singapore.

The Government has honoured him with the Padma Bhushan in 1981, the Padma Vibhushan in 1990 and the Bharat Ratna in 1997 for his work with ISRO and DRDO and his role as a scientific advisor to the Government. (ANI)
