Mysore, Jun 11: S Puttanna, the office manager of Sarada Villas Pharmacy College of Mysore on Wednesday, Jun 11 allegedly slashed the throat of a professor, leaving her to bleed to death inside the college staff room.

The victim, Chandralekha Gurjar (54), was the Vice-Principal of the college. She is survived by her husband, Jagadish Gurjar, an LIC agent, and a daughter.

The accused Puttanna, was a former bank officer, who opted for VRS. Prof. Chandralekha joined the college two years ago and was quiet popular among the students. The reason for the murder was not clear. However Puttanna claimed that he was a victim of caste atrocity and humiliation and had been frequently admonished by Prof. Gurjar, who asked him to leave his job on Tuesday, Jun 9.

Reports suggest that Prof. Chandralekha had asked Puttanna to hand over the charge of office to new person appointed in his place. But he refused and said that he would do so only on Wednesday, Jun 10. Puttanna on Wednesday, went to Principal's room and bid him farewell. Later he entered the staff room where Prof. Chandrelekha was alone and attacked her. Puttanna then walked back to Principal's room and admitted his crime.

Though the office staff tried to rush the Professor to hospital she died before the ambulance came. Puttanna is under police custody and a case was registered against him.

The only mistake she committed is being very true and sincere towards her work. She had been constantly thinking about the growth of each of her individual students. There are many stories untold about her loyalty which is yet to come to light. The college authorities even restrained themselves from even signing a complaint against Puttana thinking it would hamper the reputation of the college and to add to the shame there has not been even a single person representing “Sarada Vilas Pharmacy College” at condolence ceremony. May Chandralekha madam’s family get the strength to overcome this tragedy soon and her soul rest in peace. -Rakesh

It's a very shocking and dreadful incident. The accused Puttana has been stating a false reason “Chandralekha ill-treated me and, on Tuesday, she told me I’d been sacked" for his brutal act. This is very untrue as Chandralekha madam had been working in Farooqia college for 23 years which had been more dominated by Muslims and she had gained a very good reputation and best known for her simplicity and dedication towards work. This clearly reflects her attitude towards other religion. Puttana had been misusing the powers he had at college in making extra more money and was very disinterested towards work. This had been in the knowledge of the entire management and it was their decision together which lead to the dismissal of Puttana, probably Chandralekha madam would have a strong say over it which led to her tragic end. I am finding it hard to digest the truth of how Puttana alone could accomplish such a merciless act without any accomplice. There are many hidden truths which are deep submerged. As stated in one of the leading news papers of Mysore Puttana had bolted staff room doors and slit Chandralekha madam’ throat and stabbed her. To add to the fury the miscreant waited till her last breath and witnessed her struggling which is the most intolerable and unpleasant scene for any human to experience. This is truly an act that can be performed by only psychopaths. Puttana should not be spared and should be sentenced to death for causing such a loss for Chandralekha madam family. This would alert all the psychopaths and help avoid such incidents happening again in future.
