Chidambaram discusses J-K security scenario with Omar Abdullah

Srinagar, June 11 (ANI): Union Home Minister P Chidambaram on Thursday met Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdullah and discussed the security scenario in the state.

During his two-day visit, he is scheduled to meet the Governor and State Ministers.

He will also attend a meeting of the Unified Command.

The Home Minister will also discuss with the State Government issues relating to the economic development of Jammu and Kashmir.

This will be the first visit of Chidambaram to Jammu and Kashmir after the assumption of office by the new Government at the Centre. (ANI)

Omar Abdullah says his government to revoke AFSPA soon

Jammu, Feb.26 (ANI): Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdullah on Thursday announced that his government is considering a proposal to revoke the Armed Forces Special Powers Act (AFSPA), stripping the armed forces of special powers in the terrorism-hit state.Replying to a debate on the withdrawal of the AFSPA and human rights violations, Abdullah said: "We have started the process of revoking the AFSPA and Disturbed Area Act,""The first step has been taken with the replacement of Central Reserve.....
