Meeta Jamal, the college Principal said that the move was taken to check eve-teasing and ensure discipline. "Western dresses, including body-hugging tops and tight-fitting jeans, don"t indicate a disciplined atmosphere and attract comments from eve-teasers. We can"t overlook the safety of students. A dress code would check eve-teasing to some extent and also ensure that girls don"t waste their time selecting what clothes to wear," Jamal said.

However this initiative by the college have incited the wrath of students. They urged the college to stop moral policing.

this is absolutely nonsense.what is wrong with wearing jeans?there are many college students and even working women are wearing jeans and other western outfits.more than 8 years ago, girls used 2 wear traditional dress, but the trend was in decline at the beginning of 2004.to curb eve teasing,anti-eve teasing squads is a must just like anti-ragging squads.remember, this is the 21st century and not the dark ages!!!!

for god's sake i wish the authorities could grow up, if eve-teasing is a problem then employ security guards outside college, in India it always works like this, and such thoughts from a college principal, who is supposed to be taking the country forward and not decades before in time, is very shameful. These incidents make me feel ashamed of my own country, which i dearly love....I wonder why don't i just go live in Afghanistan????
