Indian, Chinese students way above their Brit counterparts in UK schools

London, June 7 (ANI): Indian and Chinese pupils are all well ahead of their British counterparts in the UK schools, a new research has revealed.

The findings based on exam results at each of the nation's 30,000 schools have shown that British boys are virtually bottom of the class.

They do worse in their GCSEs than kids from almost every other group in the country.

According to the research by government education chiefs, Caribbean, Pakistani, Bangladeshi, Indian, black African and Chinese pupils-as well as girls from any background-perform better than white boys.

The study also found that only gypsy and traveller children or those in care i.e. kids whose educations are routinely disrupted come below white boys.

Nick Seaton, chairman of the Campaign for Real Education, holds British parents responsible for the disappointing result, insisting they don't give their sons the educational support they need.

"Chinese and Indian youngsters do well because they are pushed by their parents to do well and have supportive families-but many white British males don't have this," the News of the World quoted Seaton as saying.

"Also white boys could do as well as anyone if they got the chance to go to a good school," he added.

A spokesman for the Department for School Children and Families (DSCF)-who produced the report- admitted "underachieve ment, regardless of background or ethnicity, can only be tackled by changing the aspirations of young people, their parents and the education system". (ANI)
