H1N1: 1st Human-to-human transmission case in Hyd

Hyderabad, Jun 7: The first case of human-to-human transmission of the H1N1 influenza known also as Swine flu in India was reported in Hyderabad on Sunday, Jun 7. With this the total number of people afflicted by the disease in India is nine.

A techie who had travelled from Philadephia of US to Hyderabad by a British Airways flight on May 31 infected his younger brother with the virus. Both the brothers are admitted to the quarantine facility in Chest Hospital The brothers are natives of Tamil Nadu.

A mother and son who were travelling in the same flight as the 28-yr-old software professional from US also reported the symptoms of flu. While the child tested positive, results of the tests on the mother are yet to come.

Other than this two more new suspected H1N1 patients were admitted to the Chest Hospital on Sunday, Jun 7. A 27-yr-old woman who arrived from St.Louis, USA on Jun 3 in Hyderabad later developed the symptoms.She too was quarantined.
