New Delhi, Jun 5: External Affairs Minister SM Krishna on Friday, Jun 5 said that US President Barrack Obama's speech to the 'Muslim World' was conciliatory and that he had made a broader appeal.
"It was a conciliatory speech. We will have to wait for the reactions from the Islamic world," he said.
Obama's speech, aimed at more than one billion Muslims across the world, was an attempt to build a coalition of Muslim Governments that will back his efforts to revive stalled Middle East peace talks and help the United States curb Iran's nuclear programme, which Tehran says is peaceful but the West says is to build bombs.
The address was part of a broader effort to rewrite U.S. foreign policy which under Obama's predecessor George W. Bush alienated allies and fueled a wave of anti-Americanism in the Muslim world, although the President said this week it would not be an apology for the Bush administration's policies.
Reacting to the advisory issued by the United States warning its citizen to be cautious in India, Krishna said, although the Interior Minister had allayed the fears of the US, still India was ready to address the concerns of various countries.
" I think the Home Minister has already spoken about it that India is a very safe country for anybody to travel. And if there are any concerns of the particular countries, we are willing to address those concerns," he said.
The United States has issued a travel advisory asking its citizens to be careful while living and traveling within India citing that the country is under the terro radar.
