Lahore HC orders release of 26/11 suspect Saeed

Lahore, Jun 2: The Lahore High court on Tuesday, Jun 2 has ordered release of Jamaat-ud-Dawah (JuD) chief, Hafiz Saeed and has reportedly dropped the charges against him.

Saeed was arrested after the 26/11 Mumbai terror attacks and was detained under a house attack since Dec 2008.

The court ordered his release in response to a Habeas Corpus petition filed by Saeed"s lawyers challenging his detention. The court on Monday, Jun 1 heard arguments of Saeed's counsel AK Dogar, that there were 'no legal grounds' for Saeed"s detention. Dogar overthrew the arguments placed by Pakistan's Attorney General Latif Khosa during the May 30 hearing.

Along with Seead another top JuD leader Colonel (Retd) Nazir Ahmed has been released.
