M.K. Azhagiri assumes charge as Minister for Chemicals and Fertilisers

New Delhi, June 1 (ANI): M.K. Azhagiri assumed charge of the Union Minister for Chemicals and Fertilisers here on Monday.

Talking to reporters after taking charge, Azhagiri said, his first and foremost priority will be to ensure the timely availability of various types of subsidized fertilisers to farmers throughout India.

He said the domestic production of fertilizers will be maximized by modernizing and restructuring of our existing fertiliser units and steps will be taken to reopen the closed factories and production revived.

Azhagiri said, steps would be taken for ensuring steady supply of raw materials especially in the field of Phosphates and Potassium from foreign countries.

On the pharmaceutical price front, he said all types of medicines used by the common people would be provided throughout the country at an affordable price.

Azhagiri said we would concentrate in research and development, creation of infrastructure facilities and improvement of manpower skills in the pharma sector.

The Minister was later briefed by senior officers on the functioning of the departments in the Ministry. (ANI)

Vaiko reaffirms ties with AIADMK; despite supporting LTTE

Chennai, Nov 5: Marumalarchi DMK (MDMK) General Secretary Vaiko today said his party will remain in the AIADMK-led alliance, even while supporting the outlawed Liberation Tigers of Tamil Eelam (LTTE). Reacting to Dravidar Kazhagam (DK) President K Veeramani's suggestion that the MDMK should walk out of the AIADMK-led alliance in view of the latter's anti-LTTE stand, Mr Vaiko said the party would remain with the AIADMK, without making any compromise on its policies and ideologies. The MDMK would not make any compromise.....
