'Data bank on Indian students overseas soon'

Vayalar Ravi
Nedumbassery (Kerala), Jun 1: Vayalar Ravi, the Union Minister for Overseas Affairs on Monday, Jun 1 said that the Government is planning to formulate a data bank on students seeking admissions abroad.

" The Ministry of Overseas Affairs, with the help of Indian missions, will prepare the data, as part of measures to prevent attacks on Indian students in foreign countries," said the minister to reporters.

Condemning the attack on Indian students in Australia, he said, the data bank would include details on the total number of Indian students in a country, where they stay and job conditions of the part time employed students.

He said the presence of racist elements could be confirmed only after receiving the detail report, as a primary report from the High Commission was just a statement of the incident.
