2 firemen killed IGI fire drill mishap in Delhi

New Delhi, May 30: Two firemen were killed and three others injured when a fire tender they were using for a mock drill careened down the path of the new run way and fell into a drain at the Indira Gandhi International airport (IGI).

Airport sources said that the incident occurred on Friday, May 29 night when Ashok Chandra Verma, senior coordinator, along with driver Niresh Yadav and three other firemen were testing the ultra-modern fire-fighting vehicle (Rosenbauer--RB7).

The vehicle veered of the runway near Zullu taxiway and overturned into a storm-water drain that runs parallel to the new runway. The injured firemen are admitted in Indian Spinal Injuries Centre in Vasant Kunj. Airport sources said that the test was being carried out on new runway (29/11) as there is no traffic after 10 pm. Condition of one of the injured fireman is serious.

Fog disrupts flight schedules at IGI Airport

New Delhi, Jan 7: Flight schedules at the Indira Gandhi International Airport were disrupted this morning due to dense fog. Around 20 departure flights were delayed. At least five flights, which were coming into Delhi, were also delayed because of poor visibility on the runway, an airport official said. Passengers were informed about flight delays in advance, the official said. ANI.....
