Jalandhar, May 26: District authorities allowed relaxation of Curfew that was imposed on parts of states on Monday, May 25 following violent protests over the death of a Sikh Guru in Vienna.
Jalandhar, Ludhiana, Hoshiarpur and Phagwara towns will continue under curfew, the authorities informed. The curfew however, will be relaxed for two to four hours.
Even though the curfew has been relaxed the situation across the state, especially the central part seems tense. Additional army, police and paramilitary personnel were deployed on Tuesday, May 26.
Apart from the incident of sugar mill being set on fire in Phagwara, Punjab did not see any major violence as of Monday night, May 25.

Despite the traffic movement being allowed on the national highway 1, many motorists chose to stay out of the route. Following violence and damage caused to the railway property at least 40 trains on the New Delhi-Amritsar and New Delhi-Jammu sections have been cancelled.
