LTTE militants may enter India via sea: Govt

Sri Lankan Rebels
New Delhi, May 26: The Centre on Monday, May 25, said that there was a possibility of LTTE militants entering the country through the sea. Government also said that the Tamil Nadu government had been sensitized about it.

The Union Home Minister P Chidambaram said, "enough precautions have been taken. The state government has been sensitized to the possible entry of militants (LTTE) through the coastline of Tamil Nadu."

Asked as to when LTTE chief V Prabhakaran died, the minister said, "I don't think we should speak or speculate on a person who is dead. Even the dead need to be treated with dignity."

He also said, the Sri Lankan government had announced that Prabhakaran was killed on the morning of May 17 and "I think we should accept that statement." When asked about the return of Sri Lankan Tamil refugees now sheltered in Tamil Nadu, Chidambaram said, "let the situation be normal (in Sri Lanka). I am sure they will go back to Sri Lanka."
