Yahoo launches social news site, Buzz in India

Yahoo Buzz
New Delhi, May 22: Internet giant Yahoo on Thursday, May 21 launched social news site, Yahoo Buzz in India.

India is the second country in the world and the first International market after United States to get the product. Yahoo homepage will now feature news articles that readers have voted for. Buzz will effectively accesses the interests of the people and in turn feature the stories that are deemed relevant to the masses by the masses.

"Yahoo! Buzz is a great example of how we can combine popular stories with the wisdom of real people to determine what is most engaging and relevant to our millions of users," Yahoo! India Head of Audience Frazier Miller said in a statement.

The site in India is right now featuring stories from news publishers like NDTV, India Today Group, Times of India, Zee, A2 Media and OneIndia.

Yahoo China wins unfair competition lawsuit

SHANGHAI, Dec 21: Yahoo China has won a lawsuit it brought against a local search engine operator over unfair competition, Yahoo China's owner, Alibaba.com, said today.Beijing's Second Intermediate Court ruled that Beijing Sanjiwuxian Internet Technology, operator of the Qihoo search engine, must stop competing unfairly and compensate Yahoo! China for damages and legal costs, Alibaba said in a statement.Beijing Sanjiwuxian was also required to make a public announcement clarifying ''incorrect allegations'', the statement said, without specifying the size.....

Yahoo India to invest in Tyroo media

Bangalore, July 18: Yahoo! Inc., a leading global Internet company today announced a significant investment of over 35 per cent in Tyroo Media Pvt. Ltd, a Gurgaon based company offering advertising solutions. Tyroo, was part of Smile Interactive Technologies Group (Smile Group) and had over 1200 registered publishers cross the country. Wikia details plans for search rival to Google
