Obama, Sarkozy congratulate India over elections

Washington, May 18: US president Barack Obama and the president of France Nicolas Sarkozy have congratulated the Indian government for successfully completing the Lok Sabha Elections.

Barack Obama, on Sunday, May 17 moved by 'the largest exercise of popular voting in the world', noted that the world is awaiting the formation of new government. He added that he is looking forward to continue to work with the new government and carry on the 'warm' bilateral partnership.

"President Obama looks forward to continuing to work with the Indian government to enhance the warm partnership between our two countries," the White House said.

Nicolas Sarkozy who sent a message to India through his Indian counterpart, Pratibha Patil, congratulated the country's government for a successful conduction of elections. He has also expressed his respect towards the the faithfulness of the largest democracy in the world to the values of liberty, people"s sovereignty and respect of diversity in secularism, a French Embassy release revealed.
