Sri Lankan army claims Prabhakaran is dead

Colombo, May 17: Hours after the Sri Lankan President Mahinda Rajapaksa announced on Sunday, May 17 that the LTTE has been 'militarily' defeated, there are reports on Sri Lankan army claiming that Liberation Tiger of Tamil Eelam (LTTE) chief V Prabhakaran could be dead.CNN-IBN, quoting army sources, reports that Prabhakaran's body has been recovered and is being taken to an army camp now. Along with the leader's body, 150 other bodies of LTTE cadres have been recovered which are yet to be identified.

Earlier, a military statement read that the Tiger rebels are preparing for a 'mass suicide' after the security forces blocked out their escape routes via sea.
