Two MRF units' production hit by employee strikes

Chennai, May 12: Production at two units of MRF factories have been hampered by the sit-in-strike by around 3000 workers. The meeting between the management and union heads that happened on Tuesday, May 12 saw no resolution.

The Arakkonam unit producing motor tyres and tubes and Puducherry unit producing radial tyres are hit by striking employees who have decided to boycott the elections too.

T. V. Paramasivam, president, MRF United Workers Union, affiliated with the United Labour Federation (ULF) disclosing their demands said that they wanted 250 workers reinstated most of whom were allegedly removed following unionisation.

Apart from this they demanded salaries on par with the Chennai plant, where the salary was around 19,000 as opposed to the 4,000 to 5,000 they get here.

MRF lifts lockout in its tyre factory in TN

Chennai, Feb 5: Six days after the Tamil Nadu government warned of its take over, tyre manufacturing major MRF today lifted its nearly two-month-long lockout of its factory at Tiruvottriyur in North Chennai, bringing smiles back on the faces of thousands of its employees.
