Women bag top three ranks in civil services examinations

Kullu/Ghaziabad, May 6 (ANI): Girl candidates have outsmarted the boys to bag the top three ranks in civil services examinations.

The results of this three-stage competitive examination were announced ononday.

A total number of 791 candidates have been recommended for various civiladres such as Indian Administrative Service (IAS), Indian Foreignervice (IFS), Indian Police Service (IPS) and Indian Forest Service (IFS).

Shubhra Saxena, an engineering graduate from the Indian Institute of Technology, Roorkee has topped the list for which the written test was conducted late last year.

Sharandeep Kaur Brar, a postgraduate from Punjab University and Kiran Kaushal, who is serving as a Deputy Collector in Orissa have secured the second and third spots respectively.

Shubhra Saxena, the 30-year old married woman, attributed her success to thelmighty.

"Excitement is there, as you know getting selected in IAS itself is a great achievement. I top this prestigious examination by the grace of God. I is really a credible satisfaction. I also want to thank God and my elders for this," said Saxena.

Meanwhile, at Kullu, the other topper, 26-year old Brar, said that she would dedicate her career for the upliftment of women.

"First of all, we will try our best to bear all responsibilities in an efficient manner. Another thing, which I feel important, is the upliftment of women, especially in the area of education. This would be my top priority. I would work towards it in the full capacity," said Brar.

Brar, the only daughter of a village Sarpanch (head), hails from Bhatinda district of Punjab which ironically has a skewed sex ratio of 800 females per 1,000 males. (ANI)
