Pak nukes in safe hands: Zardari assures US

Washington, May 6: Dismissing the United States' concern over the Pakistani nukes in the hands of Taliban, Pakistan President, Asif Ali Zardari on claimed that the country's nuclear weapons are in safe hands.

"They are in safe hands," Zardari said in an interview on Tuesday, May 5.

A few days back senior officials from US had expressed worry over the possibility of Taliban getting their hands on the unsecured weapons in Pakistan.

Saying that the region was not at the risk of Taliban's control, "We have a 700,000 (man) army. How could they take over?" Zardari added.

He also brushed aside fears of Taliban sympathisers in the Pakistan's army who would help the terrorist organization to get their hands on the weaponry.

Anti-terror fight won't be affected by Mumbai attacks: Zardari
