Pak moves 6k troops from Indian border to NWFP

Islamabad, May 1: In a move to strengthen the military operations against the Taliban in the North West Frontier Province(NWFP) area of Pakistan, the Pakistan has moved 6,000 troops from its Indian border to its western frontier with Afghanistan.

The New York Times quoted a Pakistani officials who did not want to be identified as revealing that Pakistan was moving 6,000 troops which is more than a brigade to fight Taliban militants in the Buner District.

Pakistan launched offensive a few days back, against the Taliban who were gaining control over the NWFP region. The military operations are being carried out on three fronts bolstered by fighter aircraft and attack helicopters.

The troops have gained control over 8-km-long Ambela heights which overlook most of the Buner. Reports suggest that in the operations so far at least 120 militants have been killed.
