Pak IPL players to meet officials to sort out financial issues

Lahore, May 1 (ANI): Pakistan cricketers, whose contracts were terminated by the franchises of the Indian Premier League (IPL), would be flying to South Africa later this month to sort out issues regarding the non-payment of their dues with the league's administration.

The management company, which looks after all the issues of the players, said Shoaib Malik, Sohail Tanvir, Umar Gul and Misbahul Haq would meet IPL officials in South Africa right after the series against Australia is over.

"The purpose is to meet with IPL officials and find out the status of their contracts and also to resolve the payment disputes," The Daily Times quoted a company official ,as saying.

"The point is that neither the IPL nor the franchises have bothered to give anything in writing to the contracted players explaining if their contracts are terminated or suspended and on what grounds," he added.

He said the players wanted the IPL administration to clarify its stand on their status in the league.

The official said players would also meet the representatives of their respective franchises.

The IPL had discarded Pakistani players after the Pakistan government advised them not to visit India to participate in the league's second season citing security reasons. (ANI)
