JKLF activists, police clash in Srinagar, five injured

Srinagar, May 1 (ANI): At least five persons, including two policemen were injured on Friday in clashes between the police and activists of the Jammu and Kashmir Liberation Front (JKLF).

Police said the JKLF demonstrators were protesting against the holding of elections in the Kashmir Valley.

The clash took place in the Padmaloo area of Srinagar, they said. Further details are awaited. (ANI)

JKLF begins 'journey to freedom' in Kashmir

Srinagar, May 20: The Jammu and Kashmir Liberation Front (JKLF), headed by Yasin Malik, today began its ''safar-e-azadi (journey to independence)'' from Daksum in Anantnag district. Hundreds of JKLF supporters had reached Daksum to march toward Kokernag in south Kashmir's Anantnag district this morning. JKLF chairman Malik is leading the march in a specially designed vehicle, which would travel, across the Kashmir valley. He will address a public meeting at Kokernag later.....

Holy mace of Lord Shiva left for Amarnath

Srinagar, Aug 23: 'Chharri Mubarak', the holy mace of Lord Shiva, today left for Pahalgam en route to Amarnath cave, about 150 km from here, in south Kashmir. Mahant Deepender Giri, custodian of the holy mace, along with a large number of 'sadhus' and other devotees, offered prayers in the Dashnami Akhara temple, near here, which is housing the Chharri Mubarak. Pak will continue all support to Kashmir: Gilani

Islamabad, Jun 17: Pakistan will continue to extend moral, diplomatic and political support for the Kashmiri freedom struggle, and a sustainable peace in South Asia could not be achieved without the settlement of the Kashmir dispute, Pakistan Prime Minister Yousuf Raza Gilani reportedly said while talking to JKLF Chairman Yasin Malik in Islamabad last evening.
