CPIM helping BJP by dividing secular votes: PM

Kolkata, May 1 (ANI): Prime Minister Dr. Manmohan Singh on Friday accused the Communist Party of India (Marxist) of indirectly helping the Bharatiya Janata Party by dividing secular votes with opposition to Congress party.

"In one way, the CPM and its allies even today are helping the BJP. By opposing the UPA and Congress, they are dividing the secular votes, which can help the BJP," Dr. Singh said during an election rally in Kolkata.

Declining any possibility of the 'Third Front' forming the Government at the Centre, Dr. Singh said: "I don't believe that there is any chance of the 'Third Front' forming the government at the centre. The parties in the Third Front don't have a common minimum programme." (ANI)

Chennai, Dec 5: In a dramatic move AIADMK supremo J Jayalalithaa on Friday, Dec 5, announced an electoral alliance with the Communist Party of India (Marxist). Jaya met CPM general secretary Prakash Karat earlier on Friday, Dec 5 to work out the alliance. She had also met senior CPI leader A B Bardhan last week. In a media conference Jayalalithaa said, "We have entered into an electoral alliance with the Left." Earlier there was speculation that Jaya might.....

Karat discusses Mullaperiyar with Karunanidhi

Chennai, Dec 27: Communist Party of India (Marxist) General Secretary Prakash Karat today urged Tamil Nadu and Kerala Governments to find an amicable solution to the contentious Mullaperiyar issue. Mr Karat, whose party is ruling Kerala, called on Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M Karunanidhi at his Gopalapuram residence and discussed the vexed issue. State Public Works Minister Duraimurugan was also present in the meeting, which lasted for nearly 30 minutes......
