Videocon Q2 net profit falls to 70 pc

Mumbai, Apr 30: Videocon Industries, the consumer durables giant in India announced a 70.94 pc fall in its net profit to Rs 72.98 crore during the second quarter ended Mar 31, 2009, over the corresponding period a year-ago.

In Jan-Mar of last financial year the Videocon had a net profit of Rs 251.22 crore as per the company filing to the Bombay Stock Exchange. Further, total income of the company during the second quarter of current financial year also dropped to Rs 2,220.60 crore from Rs 2,538.78 crore in the same period last fiscal.

For the six-month period ended March 31, the company reported a net profit of Rs 133.41 crore, registering a 73.35 per cent fall, compared to Rs 500.71 crore in the corresponding period a year ago.

Videocon submits EoI for Motorola handset unit

{image-videocon logo1_05042008.jpg news.oneindia.in}New Delhi, Apr 5: Consumer electronics giant Videocon Industries today said it has filed an expression of interest (EoI) for Motorola Inc's handset business, saying the whole acquisition process will take time on account of clearance from the regulatory body. ''We have submitted the EoI for the Motorola's handset business, and that will take some time because of regulatory clearance in the United States,'' Videocon Chairman and Managing Director V N Dhoot told reporters here on the sidelines of releasing.....
