Jaipur, Apr 24: The Indian Premier League (IPL) Chairman, Lalit Modi was issued a notice by the Rajasthan High Court questioning him as to why his bail in a cheating case should not be revoked for leaving the country without the court's permission.
The order was passed by Justice S P Pathak on Friday, Apr 24 asking Modi to explain the reasons that he failed to take court's permission before leaving to South Africa for the second season of IPL.
A case was filed against Modi by an NGO Nagrik Morcha as he had cheated the victims of last year's Jaipur blasts by not giving the relief money he had promised. According to the FIR Modi had given a cheque of Rs 6 crore to the then Chief Minister Vasundhra Raje for the blast victims but he failed to deposit the money.
However, Modi had argued that he paid the amount of Rs. 5.2 crore and that it had already been deposited by the franchisees. The Court, therefore, granted him bail but he was not allowed to leave the country.

The case was registered against Modi under section 420 (cheating) and 467 (forgery) of IPC.However, Modi had argued that he paid the amount of Rs. 5.2 crore and that it had already been deposited by the franchisees. The Court, therefore, granted him bail but he was not allowed to leave the country.
