Two polling officials die of sun stroke in Orissa

Bhubaneswar, Apr 23 (ANI): Two polling officials died and two others fell ill due to sun stroke in Orissa's Mayurbhanj and Keonjhar Districts on Thursday.

According to officials, the heat wave death toll in Orissa has now touched 30.

The deceased were identified as Pabitra Mohan Muduli and Somnath Mohanty.

Meanwhile, the officials who were taken ill were rushed to hospital. They were identified as Rahim Khilar and Dambarudhar Mahanta. (ANI)

Jharkhand: Polling begins peacefully for by-election

Jamshedpur, Aug 29: Amidst tight security arrangements and boycott threat by Maoists, polling in 1,263 booths for by-election in Jamsedpur Loksabha constituency began peacefully this morning. Reports from the Election Control Room here said the polling began at 0700 hours in slow pace and about 10 to 15 per cent voting was reported in the first half. Reports from naxalite-affected Ghatshila Assembly constituency said about 10 per cent voters exercised their franchise while in Baharagora Assembly constituency adjacent to the Orissa border,.....

Polling gets underway in Pak Presidential polls

Islamabad, Oct 6: Polling for the Pakistan presidential election got underway here today at Parliament House and all four provincial assemblies amid unprecedented security measures. President Pervez Musharraf, who is seeking a fresh mandate, Pakistan People's Party's Makhdoom Amin Fahim, lawyer's candidate Justice (retd) Wajihuddin and Faryal Talpur are in the fray.
