Pak PM Gilani is target of 3 terror groups: Report

Yousuf Raza Gilani
Islamabad, Apr 23: According to a report by an Intelligence Agency, the Pakistani Prime Minister Yousuf Raza Gilani faces serious threat from at least three terror groups and may be targeted in the federal capital, Lahore or in his hometown, Multan.

The News quoted this report sent to the government and the Interior Ministry saying that he could be a target of a suicide bombing or a guerrilla attack similar to the Mar 3 Lahore attack on the Sri Lankan cricket Team.

"Three teams of terrorists are reported to be working simultaneously at Islamabad, Lahore and Multan," the report said.

The federal government have reportedly called in roops of the Northern Area Scouts (NAS), a paramilitary force under the army's command, to help in countering terrorist threats to Islamabad.

"At least, 20 companies of the NAS are required to tackle any possible untoward situation," a source was quoted as saying.

The police are checking for ambulances, or vehicles with 'Press' stickers that could be carrying explosives. However, sources also said that the search could be part of a mock exercise.
