Indian Inflation marginally up at 0.26 per cent

New Delhi, Apr 23: Annual inflation rate of India shot up marginally to 0.26 per cent for the week ended Apr 11, from 0.18 pc the week before as per the official data released on Thursday, Apr 23.

Inflation was at 7.95 pc during the corresponding week (12/04/2008) of the previous year. The rate which is based on the Wholesale Price Index (WPI) had declined for eight consecutive weeks to 0.27 per cent for the week ended March 14, but marginally rose to 0.31 per cent for the week ended March 21. It again declined for the two subsequent weeks, before rising again to 0.26 pc for the week ended Apr 11.

The food articles group index increased 0.5 pc to 246.8 (provisional) from 245.6 (provisional) for the previous week. While the manufactured products index rose 0.2 pc.

Steps taken to bring down Inflation: G K Pillai

Mumbai, Aug 22: Union Secretary for Commerce, G K Pillai on Friday, Aug 22 hinted a possible decline in inflation rate that touched a 13-year high of 12.63 per cent in the week ending August 9.
